So just what is a syndrome?

1: a group of signs and symptoms that occur together and characterize a particular abnormality or condition

2: a set of concurrent things (such as emotions or actions) that usually form an identifiable pattern

Now the funny things about a syndrome is that the medical organizations usually don’t know how the syndrome started or how to end it. They do know very well how to manage it.

But what if you are tired of managing, medicating and creating your life around your syndrome? Well that’s where hypnotherapy comes into play. [Note the word ‘therapy’ in ‘hypnotherapy’.]

No this isn’t mental health therapy. I am not a mental health practitioner.

I do, however, use the concepts of Dr. John Sarno [The Divided Mind]. He, a noted back surgeon, discovered that many of his patients had very deep, very real pain. This pain even had real beginnings to it. He also made an inspiring leap in understanding when he wondered if……..that pain was also being maintained by the mind. He started working with his patients to find out what was going on in their lives, when they first felt the pain and what was continuing to go on. And he discovered:

 The mind, the subconscious, was feeling an emotion or situation so deeply that rather than let you consider the situation and deal with the emotion it gave you pain, IBS, fibromyalgia, migraines, anxiety etc. You can find out more about this as you read the site.

Now, of course he used his findings and his patients, who were willing to work with this understanding, lost their pain. Yes they may have still had the conditions but the pain wasn’t being maintained. Other doctors picked this up and applied it to Fibromyalgia, migraines, deep anxiety, even OCD.

It doesn’t take a medical doctor, psychologist or psychiatrist to work with your subconscious. This isn’t a mental health issue. Viewed through the mind/body lens it isn’t even physical. It is a subconscious habit being maintained. And habits can be changed.
